If you're planning a wedding in Tuscany with family and friends flying in, you have a problem before the menu: where to put them to sleep. Villas rent you the space and leave you to find the hotels; restaurants close at midnight and everyone goes back wherever they can. The Vecchio Borgo di Inalbi, in Impruneta, is an agriturismo: here the party and the beds are in the same place. This page explains how many beds there are, how they're booked and how a wedding turns into a weekend.
How many people can sleep on the estate
The estate has around 15-20 rooms and apartments in the farmhouses. The rooms are for couples; the larger apartments, the three-room ones, sleep up to four and suit families with children or groups of friends who prefer to stay together. There are seven types: classic room with patio, classic room with hill view, superior room with kitchenette and patio; studio with a view, one-bedroom apartment, classic two-bedroom, two-bedroom with a terrace over the hills. All in all, roughly 40-50 beds: enough for the couple, the parents, the witnesses and the core group of guests coming from far away. If more people need a bed, we point you to places a few minutes from us and coordinate timings with them.
Every unit has a private bathroom, heating and air conditioning. The couple's suite for the wedding night is normally included in the package.
Exclusive use of the estate
We'd rather tell you now than have you find out later: exclusive use is not automatic. Inalbi is an agriturismo open all year, it can host more than one event on the same day, and rooms not taken by your guests stay on sale to tourists. If you want the estate to yourselves, ask for it when you request your quote and have it put in writing: it usually means booking all the accommodation for the nights you care about. If having the party and your own rooms is enough, you don't need it.
Who books, and what the rooms cost
Your choice. The most common way: you tell us how many rooms you need and for which nights, we hold them, and each guest confirms and pays their own. Alternatively the couple books everything in one go and sorts it out with the guests. Rates vary with the season and the type of accommodation: for wedding guests ask for the dedicated rate together with the reception quote. The rooms are not included in the menu price, which stays between 80 and 100 euros per person: we give you two separate quotes so everyone knows what they're paying. The couple's suite for the first night, on the other hand, is inside the wedding package.
From one day to a weekend: the typical shape
- Friday afternoon: overnight guests arrive and settle into their rooms; informal dinner on the estate for those already here (quoted separately, simple menu)
- Saturday: legal ceremony in Florence or Impruneta, or symbolic ceremony in the park; aperitif, wedding lunch or dinner, open bar and music in the garden until the agreed time (between midnight and 2 am); at the end nobody has to drive
- Sunday: slow breakfast, goodbyes, or a brunch for those who stay; unhurried departure or a drive through Chianti
None of this is compulsory: many couples do Saturday only and keep the rooms for the wedding night. But if your guests have crossed a border to be there, the evening before and the morning after are often the moments they remember most.
The legal side for foreign couples
The marriage with legal effect takes place at the town hall, in Florence or Impruneta, not on the estate. Foreign citizens need a nulla osta or certificate of no impediment from their consulate in Italy, translated and legalised as required, and an appointment with the registrar; how long it takes depends on your nationality, so start early or use a wedding planner who does this regularly. Many international couples do the legal part at home and hold the symbolic ceremony here, with a celebrant in the park and vows in front of everyone: for your guests it is the wedding.
What to do around the wedding days
From the estate, Florence is 25 minutes by car. Impruneta, the terracotta town, is five minutes away, with the basilica of Santa Maria and its working kilns. Heading south you enter Chianti Classico: Greve, Panzano, San Casciano and the wineries are half an hour away; Siena and San Gimignano just over an hour. On the estate you can visit the olive mill and arrange a tasting of our wines and oils for the guests who stay.
Getting here from abroad
Florence airport is 35 minutes away, Pisa an hour and a quarter, Bologna about an hour and a half by car. For groups we can put you in touch with a shuttle service.
